Banat IT organizes HackTM, BIT BBQ, BegaTalks.AI, TechTable. We're bringing in 11 people to run the operational side for the next year. Applications open now.
We're a non-profit running the community layer of the tech scene in Timisoara and the Banat region. Events, partnerships, a bit of policy work. We don't do consulting, we don't sell services. Everything we build is community-owned.
Hackathon, 12 editions, 400+ builders. May every year.
The end-of-summer gathering. 1,200+ people every September.
AI-focused talks and demos. Practitioners, not pundits.
Peer roundtables for tech leads and founders. Small, focused.
No matrix org, no title inflation. Board sets direction. Executive Team runs the year. Operational Team owns the projects. Volunteers show up when it matters. That's it.
Sets the long-term direction. Approves the annual plan. Represents Banat IT with partners and institutions. Chaired by the President.
Runs the year. Compensation is project-based, not full-time salary. Each role coordinates a slice of the Operational Team.
The people who actually run projects on the ground. This is the level we're hiring for now.
People who help at events without a fixed role. Sign up whenever you want.
We don't hire directly into Executive Team. You start where the work happens, and you move up if you're good and there's an opening.
Show up at an event. See if it clicks. No commitment required.
Apply and get selected. One-year mandate, renewable if you're doing well.
Apply after at least one year in Operational. Two years preferred. Only when a seat opens.
Executive Team is fully staffed this year. The earliest new seats might open is 2027, and only if we can fund them. If you join Operational now, you're in a real path, not a promise.
Everything here is unpaid, full-time volunteer work. Roughly 5-10 hours a week on normal weeks, more around events. If you can't commit that, apply for the volunteer pool instead.
Own the biggest event of the year. September 1, 2026.
Run the floor during events. Real-time coordination.
On-site tech setup and problem-solving. Some scripting where useful.
Recruit and coordinate the volunteer pool through the year.
Visual identity across events. Handle print and digital work.
Copy, PR, tone-of-voice. Own how we sound.
Photo and video from events. Editing and delivery.
Sponsor outreach, prospect research, follow-up on major sponsors, and small operational deals (food, logistics, small sponsors). Two people share this: one leans toward sponsor development, the other toward operational deals.
Own Banat IT's slice of HackTM 2027.
Run TechTable end to end, four editions a year.
About 8 minutes to fill out. We reply within 48 hours of submission.
Not a shadowing role. You own a slice of a real project and answer for it.
BBQ is one of the biggest tech gatherings in the region. You'll meet most of the ecosystem.
Small team, real relationships, consistent context. Not a series of one-off events.
If you're good, there's a defined route to a paid Executive seat when one opens.
No. Operational Team is unpaid, full-time volunteer work. Executive Team is paid, but you don't apply there directly. See the path above.
Around 5-8 hours in normal weeks, more around events. Event PMs can hit 15-20 hours in the two weeks before their event.
You can apply after one year in Operational. Two years is what we look for in practice. And only when a seat opens, which won't happen before 2027 at the earliest.
Three options at the end of your mandate: we renew (you stay another year), you apply for Executive (if there's a seat), or you exit gracefully. Nothing is automatic in either direction.
Not necessarily. We care about what you can do, not your job title. If you're strong in design, comms, event management, or ops, apply. If you're already in tech, even better for the tech-heavy roles.
You stay in the volunteer pool. You'll get invited to help at events, and you can apply again next year when we open partial recruitment.
